Horizons at GFA is entirely self-funded, with 100% of its revenue from generous charitable giving by individuals, foundations, family trusts, community organizations, and corporations. Horizons GFA neither solicits nor receives public funding.
Horizons operates under the 501(c)3 status of Greens Farms Academy and receives in-kind contributions from GFA including the use of facilities, equipment, and bookkeeping/accounting services, but is financially independent from GFA.
As programming has expanded over the last 25 years, our budget has grown proportionately each year. Our annual K-8 program budget passed the $500,000 mark in 2008 and this year the budget for our PreK-College program is just under $2,000,000. We focus our development efforts toward sustainable revenue growth that covers our expenses and maintains program quality.
We hold three fundraising events each year:
- A traditional annual appeal
- The Horizons Open, a June golf event at The Country Club of Fairfield
- Fall Gala, a very popular autumn dinner event
